A Call to Action

Write or call your representatives today

As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy Challenges. Contact your representative to support an energy plan that will help today, tomorrow, and well into the future. Doing nothing is not the answer any more from the congress, we need action before we all loose our jobs, our way of life.

· The answer right now is to concentrate on the speculation of the market, and how that plays a role in the price. Re-establish strict position limits on energy commodities, Regulate "swaps trades", fully close the "Enron loophole", Bring transparency to all energy trading. By adopting these common-sense solutions, Congress can dramatically reduce the price of oil and gas, providing immediate relief for businesses and hard working Americans.

· The answer for the next 5 to 10 years, is exploring our nations own oil reserves, to do away with our dependence on foreign oil. We also need to simplify the process of making fuel, by building more refineries and minimize the multiple blends of fuels due to season/ area restrictions. President Bush today announced that he will lift the executive ban on offshore drilling, and Congress must still lift its own legislative ban before offshore drilling can happen.

· The answer for 10 years and beyond is to agree on the next generation of transportation. For example if Hybrid/electric is the answer then we need to start concentration of our resources for the electric to be able to power our needs.

· Once a energy plan is in place, the oil companies would only be able to keep their tax breaks if they were to assist in development along with the energy plan, instead of against it.

· The energy plan will be approved each year by congress.

With out an energy action plan, we cannot start to move forward.
